The 41st Vote

There isn't much to add to the TV pundits about the ramifications of tomorrow's senatorial election in Massachusetts:

If the Dems fail in Massachusetts, the bluest of the blue states, they can fail anywhere in the November 2010 election.

Tomorrow could signal the end of Obamacare and most of the Obama agenda unless Obama is willing to try being non-partisan, like he promised in his campaign. Let's face it, if he wants to get anything done in the future, he is going to be forced to bribe/buy at least one GOP'er over to the dark side.

If Brown is elected (or even close) ALL the politicians need to perk up and pay attention to their constituent voices, who have been begging for attention from the elite elected class in Washington. If they haven't listened in the past, now is the time to repent and reform.

Tick, tock.

On the other hand, if the Beltway Bozos are too arrogant to change their ways, well, they will be up for election soon enough.

Martha Coakley ran a poor campaign because she (and her Democratic advisers) assumed (were arrogant enough to believe) that since she held the seat of Ted Kennedy, that she was a shoe-in. Remember what they told you about assuming, Martha?

Whether Scott Brown is or is not elected tomorrow, both Democrats and Republicans need to wake up and listen to the voices of their constituents. They work for us, not the other way around.

Finally, a victory, or even a close victory in Mass tomorrow, gives all of us Independents hope that we will be able to clean house of the lobbyist-loving, bribe-taking, arrogant party loyalists who talk down to their constituents instead of listening to what they have to say.

Beware.

We're coming. And we're putting our money where our mouth is.

Racism in the White House

Yesterday, Democratic ex-President Jimmy Carter invoked the racism word against opponents of Democratic President Obama. Carter said, “Former President Carter tells "NBC Nightly News" that racism has surfaced in opposition to President Obama.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American," Carter told "NBC Nightly News." "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shares the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans."

But let’s look closely at who’s calling us non-democratic conservative rednecks names. Jimmy Carter married a white woman. Why? Obviously, because he’s a racist. They had three white children. Why? Obviously, because they are racists. Let’s face it, they could have adopted children of color instead of having their own, but it’s obvious that they were so turned off to color that they snubbed their noses, and in an elite white move, opted to fill the world with more white babies.

President Barak Obama and his wife Michelle are no less guilty. Obama married Michelle, a fellow African-American, obviously because he is predjice against white women. And instead of adopting needy white babies, the Obama family chose to birth two children of color, obviously because they are racist and hate white babies.

Are these arguments ridiculous? Maybe. But next to Jimmy Carter’s, they seem to be linear thinking.

Bronchitis

Five postings to this blog in one day is what happens when I get stuck at home with bronchitis. I would love to hear your feedback, so feel free to leave comments, suggestions, or even express an opposing viewpoint, because judging by how I'm feeling, there's an excellent chance that I may be writing here tomorrow as well.

Eliminate National Debt

Just like personal debt weakens credit, limits choices and burdens the family, national debt causes inflation and weakens our country, handing over some of the control over our future to foreign interests, such as China.

I’m not an economist and sometimes have difficulty with simple addition, but even I can see that the formula for coming back from our spending spree is to spend WAY less and save WAY more.

We’re America. We can set a goal and do it, but it is going to take a commitment, and I think we need to begin by facing the truth.

www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ is a website with the national debt that shows we are at 11.8 trillion in debt. There are other websites that differ slightly, but all list the debt at over 11 trillion.

That said, it’s time to stop the bleeding and start the healing. I have a few suggestions and would love to hear the good ideas you have for tackling this leviathan problem.

Stop the spending
No more bailouts
No more corporate takeovers
End the war
No more entitlement spending in congress
Cut the crap: no more advertising programs educating us on the food pyramids and how to fasten our seatbelts, and stop supplying Medicare patients with free electric carts with my taxpayer dollars
Reduce welfare spending by 5% per year, weaning people off this system and eliminating it as a future lifestyle choice
Reduce Medicare and Medicad spending by 5-10% through tort reform (which will reduce costs) and by eliminating unnecessary tests and procedures
Reduce Social Security and disability payments by 2 %. I know this is going to be unpopoular, but everyone is going to have to tighten their belts and pitch in.
Stop subsidizing illegal aliens with free medical care, welfare and free education

Start the healing
Individuals can pay 5% higher income taxes until we turn this tide. Businesses, especially small business, need to be supported with lower taxes so they can build the economy for us. If we all make sacrifices by reducing our net income for the sake of our country, it is going to be patriotic to do with less for a while.

I’m sure you probably have some good ideas too, and unlike Washington D.C., I’d like to hear them.

Illegal Aliens

Let me first state that I have nothing personal against illegal aliens. This is a matter of dollars and cents and dollars and common sense.

And I want to remind you that probably all of the politicians that defend the illegals are interested in them only for their votes, who offer them promises of services in exchange for a return vote back to their Senate seat.

Illegal aliens use our healthcare, educate their children for free in our schools, collect welfare and pay nothing in taxes. They are a drain on our society, not to mention the increased crime and possible terroristic threat they pose. The only way to stop this leak is to plug all the holes, with the biggest one being the Mexican border.

We need to gather up all of the illegal aliens and send them back to Mexico, or wherever they came from. Then, we need to expedite the ones that want to come back to work legally, and make sure they have Social Security and health insurance cards and are on the income tax roles so they are contributing to our economy instead of sucking it dry. Then they can do all of those jobs Americans snub their noses at.

If we can put a man on the moon and invent Velcro, we can stop the flow of aliens across our southern borders. How about we bring home the military and get them to help?
