Racism in the White House

Yesterday, Democratic ex-President Jimmy Carter invoked the racism word against opponents of Democratic President Obama. Carter said, “Former President Carter tells "NBC Nightly News" that racism has surfaced in opposition to President Obama.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American," Carter told "NBC Nightly News." "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shares the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans."

But let’s look closely at who’s calling us non-democratic conservative rednecks names. Jimmy Carter married a white woman. Why? Obviously, because he’s a racist. They had three white children. Why? Obviously, because they are racists. Let’s face it, they could have adopted children of color instead of having their own, but it’s obvious that they were so turned off to color that they snubbed their noses, and in an elite white move, opted to fill the world with more white babies.

President Barak Obama and his wife Michelle are no less guilty. Obama married Michelle, a fellow African-American, obviously because he is predjice against white women. And instead of adopting needy white babies, the Obama family chose to birth two children of color, obviously because they are racist and hate white babies.

Are these arguments ridiculous? Maybe. But next to Jimmy Carter’s, they seem to be linear thinking.

Bronchitis

Five postings to this blog in one day is what happens when I get stuck at home with bronchitis. I would love to hear your feedback, so feel free to leave comments, suggestions, or even express an opposing viewpoint, because judging by how I'm feeling, there's an excellent chance that I may be writing here tomorrow as well.

Eliminate National Debt

Just like personal debt weakens credit, limits choices and burdens the family, national debt causes inflation and weakens our country, handing over some of the control over our future to foreign interests, such as China.

I’m not an economist and sometimes have difficulty with simple addition, but even I can see that the formula for coming back from our spending spree is to spend WAY less and save WAY more.

We’re America. We can set a goal and do it, but it is going to take a commitment, and I think we need to begin by facing the truth.

www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ is a website with the national debt that shows we are at 11.8 trillion in debt. There are other websites that differ slightly, but all list the debt at over 11 trillion.

That said, it’s time to stop the bleeding and start the healing. I have a few suggestions and would love to hear the good ideas you have for tackling this leviathan problem.

Stop the spending
No more bailouts
No more corporate takeovers
End the war
No more entitlement spending in congress
Cut the crap: no more advertising programs educating us on the food pyramids and how to fasten our seatbelts, and stop supplying Medicare patients with free electric carts with my taxpayer dollars
Reduce welfare spending by 5% per year, weaning people off this system and eliminating it as a future lifestyle choice
Reduce Medicare and Medicad spending by 5-10% through tort reform (which will reduce costs) and by eliminating unnecessary tests and procedures
Reduce Social Security and disability payments by 2 %. I know this is going to be unpopoular, but everyone is going to have to tighten their belts and pitch in.
Stop subsidizing illegal aliens with free medical care, welfare and free education

Start the healing
Individuals can pay 5% higher income taxes until we turn this tide. Businesses, especially small business, need to be supported with lower taxes so they can build the economy for us. If we all make sacrifices by reducing our net income for the sake of our country, it is going to be patriotic to do with less for a while.

I’m sure you probably have some good ideas too, and unlike Washington D.C., I’d like to hear them.

Illegal Aliens

Let me first state that I have nothing personal against illegal aliens. This is a matter of dollars and cents and dollars and common sense.

And I want to remind you that probably all of the politicians that defend the illegals are interested in them only for their votes, who offer them promises of services in exchange for a return vote back to their Senate seat.

Illegal aliens use our healthcare, educate their children for free in our schools, collect welfare and pay nothing in taxes. They are a drain on our society, not to mention the increased crime and possible terroristic threat they pose. The only way to stop this leak is to plug all the holes, with the biggest one being the Mexican border.

We need to gather up all of the illegal aliens and send them back to Mexico, or wherever they came from. Then, we need to expedite the ones that want to come back to work legally, and make sure they have Social Security and health insurance cards and are on the income tax roles so they are contributing to our economy instead of sucking it dry. Then they can do all of those jobs Americans snub their noses at.

If we can put a man on the moon and invent Velcro, we can stop the flow of aliens across our southern borders. How about we bring home the military and get them to help?

1, 2, 3 Healthcare

When I was sick as a kid—and yes, I’m quite old now—but when I was sick as a kid, my parents packed me up and took me to the local doctor who had his practice on the first floor of his house and he charged them $35.00 per office visit.

Besides a lot of years and inflation, what has driven up the price of healthcare? Technology, insurance companies, attorneys, the government and the paperwork they require, the cost of which has to be built into our medical bills.

Therefore, the first solution to high healthcare is to reverse the law that requires doctors to charge as much or more to their cash patients as they are charging their commercial insurance patients. Besides, they don’t have nearly the paperwork for a cash customer as they do an insurance patient.

The second solution is to institute tort reform as malpractice insurance is a huge factor in determining healthcare bill and it will also eliminate a lot of unnecessary tests the doctors order to cover their butts in case they are taken to court. Physicians should not be forced to practice defensive medicine and we should not be forced to do and pay for unnecessary tests and procedures. I have the tort reform option for my car insurance here in Pennsylvania and it saves me 40% on my bill. It should also make a huge difference on my medical bill as well.

The third solution is to allow medical insurance to be purchased over state lines to increase competition among the companies. Insurance companies should be allowed to consolidate their companies so they have one national headquarters, instead of 50 state headquarters. This will reduce their overhead and—hopefully—they will pass the savings on to us.

Reversing laws that dictate what physicians can charge, tort reform and de-regulating insurance companies are three solutions that should change our national healthcare for the better and allow hospital and doctors to function with less government intervention and without looking over their shoulders at preying lawyers. It should also cut our bills in half.

Above are 347 words (and I wrote every one of them)—not 1000+ unread (and unreadable) pages—and I think we can all agree that this would make a mighty fine start to solving our problems without increasing government intervention in healthcare or growing a new governmental agency to suck off a 20% administrative fee from our taxes or medical care.

Oh yeah, and Medicare should stop paying for those motorized scooters. But that’s another story of fraud and abuse.

THE LIST

There are 107 days until Christmas and I decided what I want: an honest Congress and federal government that listens to its constituents and votes according to their wishes – not according to their party, special interests or PACs.

To that end, I have begun a list so I can determine who is going to get my vote for Christmas, and who is going to get (a terribly un-green) lump of Pennsylvania coal. I would appreciate your input so I can finish my list in time for the holidays. Please include the reason why you think someone should be on a certain list.

September 11, 2009

Anyone who is politically awake is aware of the deep philosophical divisions within our country between liberals and conservatives, creating a silent civil war between brothers and sisters, parents and children. We have rising unemployment, expensive bailouts and stimulus and rapidly rising national debt. At this time we are again faced with the President and Congress forcing big government, big spending and Big Brother upon us, creating a bigger bureaucracy, a bigger deficit and eroding our freedom of choice.

The current administration kowtows to large corporations, such as GE and GM, labor unions and financial institutions while wiping away their tears for the uninsured and poor, leaving the middle class standing aghast with their mouths hanging open with the knowledge that THEY – and their children—are going to be the ones that pay for all of the bailouts, medical care, corporate takeovers, war and medical programs.

Corruption in Washington is at an all time high with ACORN in charge of our elections and census and socialist czars in charge of the White House. Meanwhile, confidence in our elected congressmen has dipped to an all-time low.

I am going to tell you how to clean up Washington, how to decrease unemployment, balance the budget and give the poor medical care. It will require change, it will require sacrifice on everyone’s part and it will not be fun, but if we want to preserve our American way of life, we have to protect it financially as well as militarily. Or, we can continue spending and learn to speak Chinese.

Today is September 11, 2009 and today we remember the terrorist attacks from eight years ago today and promise to never forget. We all remember where we heard that the towers had fallen and I remember that I watched the second plane fly into the World Trade Tower.

Freedom is not free and it is time to stop spending and start investing in our future.

Please stay tuned.
